La serie de televisión es la versión hispanoamericana del programa británico Strictly Come Dancing y de su adaptación estadounidense Dancing with the Stars. El programa consiste en emparejar a famosos (cantantes, actores, etc.) con bailarines profesionales. Cada pareja interpreta bailes de salón o latinos y compite por las críticas de los jueces y los votos del público. La pareja que reciba menos críticas de los jueces y menos votos del público queda eliminada hasta que al final se nombra a un campeón.
